Custom Skins is one of them. Firstly to be able to use a custom skins you need to Authentificate your account.
The only way you can do this is by owning a copy of TMO, TMU or TMS. When you purchase on of the other non-free trackmania games you get a cd-key which you need to enter at www.trackmanianations.com(you need to register first for the site).

Once you have done that, you then need to make sure that p2p settings in TMN are set to allow.

1. open tmn click on advanced
2. click peer to peer
3. ensure enable upload and download are both ticked If you are using a router, you should also ensure that you have set NAT to allow port 3450(default TMN p2p port)

Any skins you download should be saved TMN --> Game Data --> Skins --> Vehicles --> StadiumCar

Once you have done that start TMN, go to profile and select your new car.
Remember before anyone can see you car it must first be uploaded by you and then downloaded by them so large skins car take a while before anyone can see them, i recommended trying to use skins under 1Mb Anyway hope this helps
